This week in 1974, the film soundtrack to ‘The Sting’ by Marvin Hamlisch started a five-week run at No.1 on the US album chart while Mahavishnu Orchestra drummer Billy Cobham's follow up to his power house debut, Spectrum, debuted 8 places ahead of the Lynyrd Skynyrd album with "Sweet Home Alabama".
