Sullen, Unhealthy and Mean

Tom Robinson Band : Up Against The Wall

On May 7, 1978,  one of England's most political groups, Tom Robinson Band,  entered the U.K. charts at #35 with their new single, "Up Against the Wall".  The lead-off track from Power in the Darkness, this punk anthem can be interpreted as a call to arms among England's punks to resist the government's fascist thugs carving up the welfare state. It's lost none of its power  over 40 years and its themes are so relevant today that the North Carolina alternative band Superchunk recently recorded the song as a B side to a single to benefit Planned Parenthood.
