Nick Lowe : Cracking Up


On June 3, 1979 Nick Lowe's new single, "Cracking Up", entered the U.K. pop charts at #61. The Labour of Lust track , featuring Dave Edmunds on guitar and harmonies and dark lyrics about anxiety and paranoia, would peak at #34 . Only then would Lowe release his new version of "Cruel To Be Kind" upon the world. 

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers recorded a cover of "Cracking Up" which appeared on the Playback set. 





The Tourists : Blind Among the Flowers


The Tourists, a band made up of future Eurythmics Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, enter the U.K. charts with a live favorite "Blind Among the Flowers". The single would peak at U.K.#52. The band opened for Roxy Music on their Manifesto Tour before breaking up in late 1980.
