"What I Like About You" launches The Romantics

The Romantics : What I Like About You

On January 4, 1980 The Romantics released their self-titled debut album on Nemperor Records, a label started by the late Beatles manager Brian Epstein. You may recall when he discovered the Fab Four, they were proudly wearing their black leather jackets purchased in Hamburg. The Detroit-based band  adopted the look, even going with red leather suits on the album cover.  The Romantics is best known for the US#49 hit "What I Like About You", sung by drummer Jimmy Marinos. Just hearing this song takes me back to New Orleans nights that smells like stale beer. Those flashbacks happen quite a bit because the song is played on a new commercial every year.
