Human Sexual Response : Jackie Onassis
In November of 1980 Boston's Human Sexual Response released its debut album Fig 14 on Passport Records. The band had started out as a 4-piece a cappella country and western parody act called Honey Bea and The Meadow Muffins. Their bizarre sense of humor is still part of the band's appeal, especially on "Jackie Onassis" and "What Does Sex Mean To Me", both of which actually received airplay on commercial radio stations ( at least in Boston).
In his review for Trouser Press Jerry Milbauer wrote:
Human Sexual Response has some good, strange ideas about song construction and coupling perfect, clean-cut harmonies with a street-punk lead voice is certainly a novel idea. But, like those kids on the cover, they don't quite see, sure of what they're sticking their fingers into.
Haven't listened to this for years. Thanks.
