Parliament : Aqua Boogie
On January 20, 1979, the #1 R+B song in the land was Parliament's blast of funk "Aqua Boogie (A Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop)", from the album Motor Booty Affair. The song would stay parked in the top spot for four straight weeks. In his memoir, George, George Clinton reveals the song came together in the same was as "Give Up the Funk" and "Flash Light":
“Ahh, let go of my leg,” he says, almost screaming. “I hate water."...
“Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop” dwarfed “Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis.” Was it the longest word ever in a hit song title? “Not quite, since it’s exactly the same length as “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” from Mary Poppins, and “Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic,” from Isaac Hayes. Great minds think alike, and think along.”
