X: White Girl
This week in 1980, X followed up their debut album Los Angeles ( which sold more than 60,000 copies on indie label Slash Records ) with the single "White Girl". Produced by Ray Manzarek, the single would turn up on the critically acclaimed Wild Gift six months later. It has been suggested the song is about Germs bassist Lorna Doom who may have seemed tempting to X bassist John Doe, even with a white girl ( Exene) back home.
