Rose Royce : Car Wash
To mark Labor Day, I'm posting some 1976 songs that celebrate the working man. At the top of the list is the title track from the Norman Whitfield produced soundtrack of Car Wash, released in September of 1976. Best known for guiding the Temptations through their psychedelic period, Whitfield and his young band visited the set of the film to try to capture the right mood for the music. It worked. The "Car Wash" single hit number one in January of 1977.
Also from 1976:
Barry Biggs : Work All Day
Bob Marley and the Wailers : Night Shift
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band : I've Been Working
Frank Zappa : Wind Up Working at the Gas Station
BONUS :
The Nerves : Working Too Hard
