The Selecter : On My Radio
On October 7, 1979 The Selecter entered the U.K. charts at #64 with "On My Radio". The Coventry-based band, featured on the B-side The Specials hit "Gangsters", were out touring the clubs around England when the song broke. It would peak at U.K. #8 to be followed by other 2 Tone singles like "Three Minute Hero" and "Missing Words" and the trebly U.K.#5 album Too Much Pressure. Singer Pauline Black was soon dubbed "the Queen of British Ska".
