Subway Sect : Ambition

In November of 1978,  Subway Sect released the single "Ambition", selected by NME as No. 15 among the top tracks of the year. Just the second of two singles released by the punk band in its two year career, "Ambition" sold 20,000 copies. The Sounds "Single of the Week" review reads in part "Dammit all, it's a pop record ( at least it would be if it made the the top twenty). A cheap tinny organ whirls away sounding the bastard daughter of an illicit liason between a fairground calliope and one of those Farfisas they're currently advertising on TV. "
