Rod Stewart : Get Back
The soundtrack to All This and World War II, released November 5, 1976, could have been the greatest tribute album of all time, gathering mid 70's superstars like Rod Stewart, Peter Gabriel, The Bee Gees, Roy Wood and The Brothers Johnson and having them all perform Beatles covers for a soundtrack.
Instead it's downright awful.
The songs--most performed with the London Symphony Orchestra and arranged in the most lackluster fashion possible by a man named Will Malone--are juxtaposed with World War II footage. The saving grace is Elton John's original 1974 version of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and, only because he insisted on having a rocking guitar on the track, Rod Stewart's "Get Back".
Easily one of 1976's biggest disappointments.
