Years before they sounded like The Smith's first cousins, once removed, Felt 's Lawrence got a one sentence review for his debut single "Index" in Melody Maker's February 2, 1980 edition:
An exercise in primitive monotony using one electric guitar, two practice amps and a cheap microphone.
It was later awarded single of the week by Dave McCullough in music paper Sounds.
From this Warwickshire Metal Machine Music style, the band would eventually sign with Cherry Red Records and sound like lovely literary lads lost in a library. The pre-punk revolution at its core.
